Parents of lost babies and potential of all kinds: come here to share the technicolour, the vividness, the despair, the heart-broken-open, the compassion we learn for others, having been through this mess — and see it reflected back at you, acknowledged and understood.

Thanks to photographer Xin Li and to artist Stephanie Sicore for their respective illustrations and photos.

ttc | pregnancy | birth after loss > New Week

Mandy, I am so happy for you guys. You deserve so much to be on the right side of the odds, from now on.

Natalie, I am hoping it's option one too. Hang in there, I know how tough it is. I will tell you, knowing many myself, ER docs are not always the most...ummm...reliable. I am not knocking them, they have so much knowledge and if I was in a barfight and had a gunshot wound or something I would want no one else, but finding a 7 week old fetus on ultrasound? Eh.

Merry, I am so glad you had a good appointment with your new/old doctor.

Thinking about you guys. xoxoxo

Natalie - Just wanted to chime in that you defintiely need a better u/s, but that at 14000 hcg, you should be seeing something somewhere. The earliest definitions can be seen around 1500-2000 hcg depending on equipment sensitivity. And this early, you'll get the best look via vaginal u/s because of where the uterus is located in the pelvis. And ectopic pregnancy doesn't necessarily mean tubal (it does 95% of the time), which as one of the folks who had an oddly located ectopic pregnancy, I can confirm - but we were able to place it when my levels hit over 2000, so I'd expect that you'd see something by now.

I hope there is better news out there for you soon. Take care of yourself.
