Parents of lost babies and potential of all kinds: come here to share the technicolour, the vividness, the despair, the heart-broken-open, the compassion we learn for others, having been through this mess — and see it reflected back at you, acknowledged and understood.

ttc | pregnancy | birth after loss > Fear of giving birth after stillbirth

Hi! I am due with my 4th baby any time now. My 2nd baby girl was still born. I have given birth since having a stillbirth and it was tough and healing all at the same time. I am waiting for baby #4 to arrive and fear is creeping in. Has anyone experienced this fear of giving birth after a stillbirth and any tips on overcoming? I am afraid that my fear and anxiety of giving birth is prolonging this baby's arrival.

Best wishes Wendy, for harnessing all your strength in the lead up to your labour. I can’t speak to your dear, but I imagine that when I finally get to that point I’ll be in the same boat.

What did you do in the weeks prior to your third birth? Did you read birth affirmations, listen to any uplifting birthing podcasts, do hypnobirthing? They are the tools that I used prior to my VBAC (my stillborn daughter) as I was fearful of labouring again. Do you feel that any of those suggestions may help you?

I found the Hypnobirthing book by Mongan to really help my mindset.

Best wishes to you. You can do this xx
