Parents of lost babies and potential of all kinds: come here to share the technicolour, the vividness, the despair, the heart-broken-open, the compassion we learn for others, having been through this mess — and see it reflected back at you, acknowledged and understood.

ttc | pregnancy | birth after loss > Testing vitamin and mineral levels before TTC

Was wondering if any of you had blood tests to measure vitamin and mineral levels before trying to conceive again after a loss. I know our vitamin and mineral levels are depleted during pregnancy which is why we need to give our bodies a few months to be replenished. I'm hoping to ttc after 6 months and have continued to take a prenatal daily, but wondered if there are tests I can do before ttc to ensure my levels are back up again.

Hi there. I had routine blood work run before we started to conceive again. But my doctor said your stores will build just eat a balanced diet as you can through the pregnancy and your body will get what it needs. Baby will always take what they need from you.

Up to you though ask your doctor about what would be best for you.

Hi AKM! I've done a full blood test recently and it showed I'm low in iron and vitamin D3 so my generalist prescribed me supplements for the next 3 months. I guess it's always worth doing these kind of check-ups even if you're not TTC as iron impacts the level of fatigue.
