Parents of lost babies and potential of all kinds: come here to share the technicolour, the vividness, the despair, the heart-broken-open, the compassion we learn for others, having been through this mess — and see it reflected back at you, acknowledged and understood.

ttc | pregnancy | birth after loss > Birth control after miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage end of June and my Dr told me to wait at least 3 months before trying to convince again. So I got back on my birth control pill. Now I'm 1 month left and I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to stop taking it now so my body can get into it's own natural rhythm before ttc. Did anyone get back on birth control for a few months after miscarriage? How long did it take you to conceive once you stopped?

Hi Mm, I don't know your whole history but friends of mine that have had a miscarriage didn't wait to get pregnant afterwards. 2 friends got pregnant the first cycle after the miscarriage with no problems. Again, maybe you've had other recent losses or birth trauma that make your case different. I can't speak for cycling on your own after BC because I never seemed to do that. I had to take clomid/femara for all 3 of my pregnancies after going off the pill. Good luck to you whatever you decide.

Jessica - I wish I got the go ahead to try again right away. I was surprised as I was only 5 weeks when I miscarried. But I've had a miscarriage at 12 weeks, delivered a baby at 25.0 weeks, and now another miscarriage at 5 weeks. So disappointed. Hopefully this next time we will have a successful pregnancy.

I'm so sorry Mm. Yes, maybe a little break will help your body. Have you seen any specialists about your losses. Some ladies on here with repeated miscarriages or mid-term losses end up on blood thinners to help prevent this. I am not super familiar with the options or if you know what happened with the 12 week and 25 week losses. I'm so sorry it's been such a shitty road for you. I hope your next time will be successful too!!
