Parents of lost babies and potential of all kinds: come here to share the technicolour, the vividness, the despair, the heart-broken-open, the compassion we learn for others, having been through this mess — and see it reflected back at you, acknowledged and understood.

ttc | pregnancy | birth after loss > Clomid Question

I have started using clomid this cycle. My daughter died a little over a year ago and grieving wise, I am doing o.k. Fertility problems are frusterating, we have been ttc for about 12 cycles with no luck, but for the most part, I am feeling centred.
Anyway, since the clomid start I've noticed that my emotions are a little over the top-especially anger. I just about lost it in an area parking lot when I realized we had traveled to a hockey practice and had no hockey stick. I doubt there is anything I can do about it, but manage one thing at a time. I just wondered-have anyone of you have experienced the same sort of reaction?

Emotional turmoil is a frequently reported side-effect of Clomid. I've never taken it personally, but many, many of my friends did. Nearly all of them reported feeling increases in anger and decreases in patience that left them feeling out of control at times.

I've been told that taking Clomid in the evening or before bed lessens the side-effects - perhaps that's worth trying if this go-round doesn't work?

Thanks Eliza,
Just hearing what you said helps.

Erk! I am marginally volatile as it is, and I am seeing my OB tomorrow to start on Clomid. SUPER AWESOME, good to know. I just need to put up a warning sign.

Diana -- I have definitely heard people recommend taking it at night in order to lessen the experience of the symptoms. Definitely worth a shot.

When I was on clomid and having emotional issues, one of my primary care doctors said, "oh, didn't you know--clomid makes you crazy!" Hopefully taking it at night will help. But also, keep reminding yourself that it's temporary and that you will feel normal again!

Yes, clomid made me crazy! With each course of clomid it got worse: crazy emotions, night sweats, hot flashes, weight gain...ugh. I had an easier time with the 'heavy duty' IVF meds vs. the clomid.

Also, clomid tends to delay your O, dry up your, ahem, cervical mucus, and can mimick early pregnancy symptoms (more bloated, sore BBs)...as if you don't have enough stress.

Much luck to you this month.
