Parents of lost babies and potential of all kinds: come here to share the technicolour, the vividness, the despair, the heart-broken-open, the compassion we learn for others, having been through this mess — and see it reflected back at you, acknowledged and understood.

Thanks to photographer Xin Li and to artist Stephanie Sicore for their respective illustrations and photos.

parenting after loss > First day of school

My daughter should be starting her first day of school today. I dreaded this day, seeing all the children in their new uniforms. Seeing the uniforms and backpacks that I will never get to buy for her. Meeting her new teacher. Hearing all about her day what she learnt and new friends she made. It hurts so much that she will never get to have this. Receiving the annual family back to school photos yet nobody seems to remember her. This is the most heartbreaking.

I remember so clearly the day my A should have started school. One of the most heartbreaking days. Sending love, S, and understanding.
