Parents of lost babies and potential of all kinds: come here to share the technicolour, the vividness, the despair, the heart-broken-open, the compassion we learn for others, having been through this mess — and see it reflected back at you, acknowledged and understood.

Thanks to photographer Xin Li and to artist Stephanie Sicore for their respective illustrations and photos.

So one of my co-workers is pregnant. Which has been hard enough to deal with. Yesterday she told me that she found out a few days ago that she is having a girl. She has 2 girls already. She says that she cried and cried. She cried through the whole night then told her husband that she wants an abortion.

Seriously am I supposed to sympathise with her. Cant she see that I am not the best person to commiserate with her on this issue. I think I might have been abrupt with her and told her that it is God's will that she should only have daughters.

Um, I would hope anyone would be abrupt with her, regardless of having lost a baby or not. I don’t think you’d find much of the general population willing to commiserate or sympathize. Frankly, she sounds absolutely horrifying and I would probably tell her she is extremely selfish and you don’t want to speak about it ever again.

OMG she is definitely selfish... I would for sure be really cross with her and tell her how ungrateful she is... am so sorry you had to go through sth like this...
She sounds like a disgusting person. I feel sorry for her children.

I second what others said about this behavior being disgusting and horrifying. You wonder where the heart is in some people.

Just want to echo everyone's sentiments above. Sometimes I'm just amazed at how thoughtless people are, and how ungrateful too. Sorry you had to deal with this.

She may be having issues of her own (which i simply can't symathise with), so maybe point her in the direction of a therapist.
NO WAY should she be going to you with her complaints. We shouldn't have to tell people to think before opening their mouths.
It makes me sick!
