Parents of lost babies and potential of all kinds: come here to share the technicolour, the vividness, the despair, the heart-broken-open, the compassion we learn for others, having been through this mess — and see it reflected back at you, acknowledged and understood.

Thanks to photographer Xin Li and to artist Stephanie Sicore for their respective illustrations and photos.

for one and all > Um, I do not think you read very closely. . .

So I got an email yesterday in which the sender referenced my blog by name, praised it, and invited me to join her new fashion-oriented blog and community. Hey, it's by invitation only! I'd be a great fit!

This is snort-worthy on multiple levels: anyone who knows me knows that my interest in fashion is low, I am obese and real fashion doesn't generally carry this far up the size chain, and I have a deep and abiding love for Crocs.

Also, of course, while the name of my blog is Cotton Socks, the focus of the blog has always been trying to conceive, pregnancy, and Gabriel and life after Gabriel.

I know it was a random search that led to the blog. I know it was someone probably getting paid a few extra dollars to find blogs that at a quick glance look interesting and contact the authors to try and up community numbers and ad revenue.

But - come on now. Really? REALLY?

I sent this response:

"While I appreciate your kind invitation, I sort of get the sense you may not have read my blog closely. Much of it deals with my dead baby, and as such, may not make me an appropriate addition to your group.

Best of luck."

I hope she feels like an ass. It hurt me immensely when I started to have to moderate comments on my blog because someone from China kept commenting in Chinese and leaving spam links -- its just another slap in the face, and it sucks. Hugs to you honey.

Eliza - so sorry you're getting these stupid invites.
I have a great spam blocker on my WP blog - it saves me from having to moderate the spam comments most of the time.

ugh. i also got the chinese spam thing. so annoying!
also had a few telesales people phoning to sell me baby stuff...
me: "How did you get my details?"
them: (hesitates) "from the hospital when your baby was born"
me: uh-huh... funny that considering that ACTUALLY...
them: "ag shame, well ya no fine. Everything happens for a reason. You are young you will have more kids"

IDIOT! For all she knows I am 40 and infertile and the whole "everything happens for a reason" thing? She can take that and shove it where the sun don't shine :) it is trite and meaningless and annoying and stupid.

Phew... apparently I have some issues :)

my first post on my dead baby blog was someone giving me a link to tooth fairy sacks that he sells for when your child loses their teeth!!! i e-mailed him and told him my child was dead and that he wouldn't be losing any teeth! he actually e-mailed me back with condolences and apologies and said he would be sure to check who he was sending these links to in the future. idiot!

I got an invitation to have my family be part of the programme "Supernanny" the week Freddie died.

Bah.

And, omg, the spam on posts about his death makes me scream and wail :(
